Bruce Mendenhall was convicted Wednesday in the 2007 killing of Carma Purpura, an Indiana woman with whom he had been speaking at a truck stop.

Prosecutors said the man had sent “sexually violent” messages to the Indiana Fever star and had traveled to Indianapolis to be closer to her.
