‘People Respond To Leadership:’ Scott Jennings Talks Dems Reaching Out To Trump

Scott Jennings, often CNN’s sole Republican commentator on panels, gave his take Thursday night on why some Democrats are looking to have a relationship with President-elect Donald Trump in the wake of his massive election victory.

Mayor Eric Adams of New York City is set to meet with Trump on Friday at Mar-a-Lago. Rumors circulated that Adams is angling for a pardon in the wake of his indictment on charges of bribery and wire fraud, but the Democratic mayor has also indicated he wants to work with the incoming administration and has been critical of the Biden administration.

“One, I think the hysteria has subsided, thank God, over Trump,” Jennings told the CNN panel. “Number two, it makes a lot of sense to me why Eric Adams, the leader of a large city, would want to have a relationship with the president because New York City is one of the most impacted cities by the illegal immigration crisis.”

“Number three, people respond to leadership,” he said. “And we haven’t had any for the last four years. So now you have a strong president coming in, no wonder, they’ve been desperate for some leadership, now they’re going to get some, and they’re meeting with the president to find out what they can do together.”

One of the other panel members erupted laughing at Jennings’ last point.

Jennings also shared his thoughts on prominent Democrats, including Michelle Obama and Nancy Pelosi, skipping Trump’s inauguration.

“I think people should go where they want to go and do what they want to do. I don’t really care all that much,” Jennings said.

He added that he is hoping for a peaceful next couple of years.

“This is the first election in my adult professional career that both parties seem to have accepted the outcome of the election. There doesn’t seem to be any dispute thankfully this time about who won,” Jennings said.

“I think we’re off the slippery slope. That’s my view,” he said. “I hope these little slights don’t alter that, but I feel like we are about to go into a couple of years — I’m just going to try to will it into existence — of political peace. We haven’t had peace in a long time. And I think that’s what the American people said when they voted for this unified Republican government.”

Trump’s presidential inauguration will take place on Monday. Due to potentially dangerously frigid temperatures, it will be held inside the Capitol Rotunda rather than outdoors.

“I don’t want to see people hurt, or injured, in any way,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

Trump Responds To ‘Expected’ SCOTUS TikTok Ruling, Says He Will ‘Review The Situation’

President-elect Donald Trump responded to the Supreme Court’s Friday ruling that upholds a ban on Chinese-owned TikTok, saying that he will decide whether to take any executive action “in the not too distant future.”

Following the high court’s ruling, the ban on TikTok will go into effect on Sunday unless the social media platform’s parent company — Chinese-owned ByteDance — sells TikTok to an American company. The Biden administration said it will leave the issue for Trump to address as soon as he is sworn in on Monday.

Trump, who has reportedly considered issuing an executive order to allow TikTok to remain available in app stores in the U.S., said in a post on Truth Social that the Supreme Court’s ruling wasn’t surprising, and added that he would “review the situation” before taking any executive action.

“The Supreme Court decision was expected, and everyone must respect it. My decision on TikTok will be made in the not too distant future, but I must have time to review the situation. Stay tuned!” Trump wrote.

Enforcement of the law will be the executive branch’s responsibility, and Trump told CNN shortly after the ruling was handed down that the decision on TikTok’s future “ultimately goes up to me, so you’re going to see what I’m going to do.”

“Congress has given me the decision, so I’ll be making the decision,” he added.

Earlier on Friday, Trump said he spoke to Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping about multiple issues, including TikTok.

“I just spoke to Chairman Xi Jinping of China. The call was a very good one for both China and the U.S.A.,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “It is my expectation that we will solve many problems together, and starting immediately. We discussed balancing Trade, Fentanyl, TikTok, and many other subjects. President Xi and I will do everything possible to make the World more peaceful and safe!”

Trump has flipped on the TikTok issue between his first and second terms. During his first term, Trump attempted to ban TikTok, but he recently met with TikTok’s CEO and said he has a “warm spot” for the social media giant after it helped energize young Americans who voted for him in the 2024 election.

TikTok “collects extensive personal information from and about its users,” the Supreme Court wrote, adding, that the platform does “not dispute that the government has an important and well-grounded interest in preventing China from collecting the personal data of tens of millions of U.S. TikTok users. Nor could they.” U.S. lawmakers and the Biden administration raised alarms about the national security threat presented by TikTok, arguing that the communist government could manipulate the platform’s content in a way that pushes Chinese propaganda on American citizens.

The Supreme Court acknowledged the threat, writing, “Data collection and analysis is a common practice in this digital age. But TikTok’s scale and susceptibility to foreign adversary control, together with the vast swaths of sensitive data the platform collects, justify differential treatment to address the Government’s national security concerns.”

‘My Gut Dropped’: Trans-Identifying Dancer Wins Female Irish Dancing Competition. Again.

In December of 2024, for the second year in a row, a male Irish dancer who identifies as a transgender girl has won the title of Southern Regional Champion, beating out nearly 100 girls and indirectly depriving a young woman of the opportunity to compete at the World Championships.

As an internationally competitive Irish dancer, I have been appalled at the introduction of men into women’s sports across the globe in the last several years, and specifically, at the effects of this practice upon my own sport. Despite recent victories such as the defeat in federal court of the Biden-Harris administration’s attempt to legally expand the definition of sex in Title IX to include the nebulous concept of “gender identity,” which would have punished states for barring biological males from women’s sports, many female athletes are still forced to yield their spaces to boys and men.

In recent months, I have watched young women diligently balance AP classes, cross-training, and other sports with rigorous dance classes, frequent travel to competitions, and acute mental pressure that accompany athletes everywhere, only to have to compete against individuals with physiological advantages. These girls all train in the hope of qualifying for the World Irish Dancing Championships, a feat attained by a mere 1%. The World Championships are often termed our “Olympics,” and for good reason. While a normal resting heart rate for adults ranges between 60 to 100 beats per minute (BPM), the stamina required to compete in three champion-length rounds means our resting heart rates are often near 40bpm. Our complex rhythms must be unfailingly precise; we require the flexibility to kick well above our heads, and we must possess the explosive power to jump and freeze in midair, even while wearing heavy, fiberglass shoes. Some of us commute several hours to dance class, and in my case, as just one example, I delayed attending my first-choice university in order to secure a qualification.

After all this sacrifice, girls are then made to compete against individuals who, according to the National Library of Medicine, possess superior lung capacity, denser bones, and significantly greater muscle mass even after estrogen therapy. As of 2022, International Olympic Committee regulations require biological males wishing to compete as females to undergo “hormone therapy” to maintain testosterone levels “below 10 nmol/L (nanomoles per liter) for one year.” It is crucial to note here that this standard is patently unfair: The female range for testosterone is “<1 nmol/L.” Furthermore, the National Library cites multiple studies demonstrating hormone therapy’s “limited success” with one study revealing that although male-to-female trans individuals’ testosterone levels “decreased significantly,” “nearly all” failed to reach female levels.

Additionally, current testosterone levels are a faulty metric to begin with: Male exposure to “testosterone secreted before birth … and postnatally … has driven permanent effects.” Females have “10-12%” smaller lung capacity and heart size “85% that of males.” Further studies reveal that male-to-female trans-identifying individuals experience “no bone mass loss” after “28-63 months of estrogen therapy,” and lose just “5-10%” of what can be a “50-75%” muscle mass advantage, an effect which evidence indicates could be “mitigated” by exercise. The implications of these findings upon policy for a highly aerobic, plyometric sport such as Irish dance ought to be self-evident.

Already, in the U.S., England, and Scotland, girls have been deprived of titles, World Qualifications, World Medalist status, and other honors. And now, this past December, we had to watch a boy win another female regional title. Anyone who was present or has seen the videos of that moment knows how discouraged his female competitors and their parents and teachers were.

One mother I spoke to asked to remain anonymous and expressed her frustration. Her daughter has competed in Irish dancing for eight years. She says this issue is “a biological thing,” citing the example of her 11-year-old son who has already overtaken his highly-ranked 15-year-old sister’s best cross-country runtime. Regarding dance, she says: “There’s a lot of disappointment from the girls feeling like there’s nothing that they can do training wise.”

“There were a bunch of girls that have retired … and have cited this as the cause of why they were retiring. In particular, two girls that are on the podium … almost every year.”

It is not only parents who see injustice in this practice. One dancer, who competes at the North American level, talked to me about not just her own but also her competitors’ sadness on the changes to their competition: “We work all year for this championship … and we expect it to be just a girl’s competition.” She says the biological males “tend to be more aggressive, dominant, and take over the stage,” and deprive her competition of opportunities like “getting a recall or a national qualification.” “The majority of us girls feel that disappointment and disagree with” the policy. She concludes, “Awards for me used to be the absolute highlight of Oireachtas … but this year, when the boy won the championship title for the second time … my gut dropped.” Another highly-ranked dancer in the competition concurs, recalling that awards “felt pretty awkward.”

They were not alone in their displeasure, with the first dancer noting that “many of us” and “lots of the audience” did not applaud. What used to be “a fun vibe” of “friendship and girlhood backstage” has shifted to one in which “everyone is now on edge.”

In addition to a physical advantage, boys dancing against girls poses a greater risk for female injuries. Power and swift motion are key components of Irish dancing, and we usually compete two or three dancers at once. Despite our best efforts, differing choreographic floor patterns and an impulse to retain the front of the stage or lose points for timidity sometimes cause collisions.

An anonymous male World Qualifier, talking to me about his in-studio training, said that “aggression is a very big difference between how I dance” compared with “girls at the studio,” continuing to say that “boys will take the front of the stage more definitively,” than girls, who have cause to fear accidental collisions with boys. He speaks strictly out of a sense of fairness, stating that if “a biological male who identifies as a female competed in the male competition, I would have no problem with that.”

It is past time to end this open discrimination against our girls. Given the obvious evidence demonstrating the physical advantages of boys over girls, and the widespread recognition of injustice among the dance community, it ought to be very clear that our girls deserve their own competitions. Although many of the parents, dancers, and instructors who have spoken out on this topic have chosen to remain anonymous, fearing ended careers or vitriolic tirades against personal character, those of us who wish to protect our girls do not ascribe to such “cancel culture.” We do not call for ostracization or exclusion based upon differing beliefs; dancing is a joy which is and should be accessible to everyone. Just never at the cost of young women’s dreams.

Apple, Google App Stores Push Users To TikTok In Days Ahead Of Impending Ban

The country’s most prominent appplication stores, run by tech giants Apple and Google, are actively pushing users to download TikTok just days before it will be illegal for them to do so.

As of Friday morning, the Chinese-owned TikTok is listed as the number one “must-have app” on Apple’s App Store, where roughly 118 million iPhone owners in the United States get their apps. The placement remained after a ruling was handed down by the Supreme Court upholding the ban, which takes effect on Sunday and will immediately make it illegal for app store operators to allow downloads of TikTok as long as it is owned by a Chinese entity.

On Google’s Play Store, TikTok is also put front and center. The first thing visible when opening it is promotion for an event taking place on TikTok after the impending ban, with a prompt to install the app. It is also the top listed “sponsored” app, indicating that Google is being paid to promote it on its homepage.

Neither Apple nor Google respond to a request for comment. It is unclear exactly how decisions are made about what applications are recommended.

NBC News reported this week that TikTok was using its platform to push users to Lemon8, which is owned by the same Chinese parent company, ByteDance.

“On TikTok, advertisements for Lemon8 appear to have ramped up leading up to the ban,” NBC reported. “TikTok has used traditional advertisements on its platform urging users to download it. TikTok has also sent notifications to its users suggesting they download Lemon8.”

This means that a surge of users in TikTok’s potential final days will likely boost ByteDance’s effort to maintain a foothold in the United States, a prospect that has been deemed a national security threat. While the only companies explicitly listed in the legislation are ByteDance and subsidiary TikTok, there is speculation that other ByteDance apps could also end up banned.

The Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the TikTok ban passed by Congress could go into effect this weekend, saying it did not violate the First Amendment.

In an unassigned opinion, the court ruled that Congress was justified in passing the ban because of concerns about the Chinese government using TikTok to harvest the private data of millions of Americans. If China-based ByteDance does not sell the social media platform, the ban will go into effect on Sunday, January 19.

“There is no doubt that, for more than 170 million Americans, TikTok offers a distinctive and expansive outlet for expression, means of engagement, and source of community,” the court wrote. “But Congress has determined that divestiture is necessary to address its well-supported national security concerns regarding TikTok’s data collection practices and relationship with a foreign adversary.”

President Joe Biden has said he has no plans to enforce the ban, but top Senators have warned Apple and Google to comply with its orders.

“Penalties for companies like Apple and Google could run as high as $850 billion,” said Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR). “Not sure I’d take a politician’s word if I ran those companies.”

Trump Inauguration To Be Moved Indoors

President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next week will be moved indoors because forecasts indicate that extremely cold weather is likely.

The president-elect announced on social media that plans are underway to have Trump sworn in inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.

“It is my obligation to protect the People of our Country but, before we even begin, we have to think of the Inauguration itself,” Trump said. “The weather forecast for Washington, D.C., with the windchill factor, could take temperatures into severe record lows.”

“There is an Arctic blast sweeping the Country. I don’t want to see people hurt, or injured, in any way,” he continued. “It is dangerous conditions for the tens of thousands of Law Enforcement, First Responders, Police K9s and even horses, and hundreds of thousands of supporters that will be outside for many hours on the 20th (In any event, if you decide to come, dress warmly!).”

Trump said the various dignitaries and guests expected to attend would be brought into the Capitol.

ABC News reported the expected frigid weather conditions will likely be the coldest Inauguration Day in 40 years.

The forecast indicates that temperatures will likely be less than 20 degrees, but with wind chill, temperatures could feel as low as 5 degrees. The last president to be sworn in indoors was Ronald Reagan in 1985 when it was 7 degrees outdoors, and the wind chill was -25 degrees.

“We will open Capital One Arena on Monday for LIVE viewing of this Historic event, and to host the Presidential Parade,” Trump added. “I will join the crowd at Capital One, after my Swearing In.”

Trump’s team is also in talks with the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies about how to handle the tens of thousands of people who have booked travel to the area for the inauguration.

“All other events will remain the same, including the Victory Rally at Capital One Arena, on Sunday at 3 P.M. (Doors open at 1 P.M.—Please arrive early!), and all three Inaugural Balls on Monday evening,” Trump added.

Trump Speaks To Xi Jinping About ‘Trade, Fentanyl, TikTok’

President-elect Donald Trump said on Friday that he had a “very good” call with Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping discussing major issues between the countries as Trump prepares to hit the ground running in his second term.

According to Trump, the two leaders addressed “balancing Trade, Fentanyl, TikTok, and many other subjects. ” The incoming Trump administration’s relationship with China will be in the spotlight after Trump is sworn in on Monday. On the campaign trail, Trump vowed to levy 60% tariffs on goods from China, a significant increase from his first term.

Trump also said he discussed the controversial Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok with Xi just before the Supreme Court ruled on Friday morning that the TikTok ban passed by Congress could go into effect this weekend. Trump is reportedly considering an executive order to allow TikTok to continue operating in the U.S. Following the Supreme Court’s ruling, if TikTok’s parent company — China-based ByteDance — does not sell the social media platform, the ban will go into effect on Sunday, January 19.

“I just spoke to Chairman Xi Jinping of China. The call was a very good one for both China and the U.S.A,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “It is my expectation that we will solve many problems together, and starting immediately. We discussed balancing Trade, Fentanyl, TikTok, and many other subjects. President Xi and I will do everything possible to make the World more peaceful and safe!”

China will send its vice president, Han Zheng, to Trump’s inauguration after the president-elect invited Xi to attend. Zheng’s appearance will mark the first time a high-ranking Chinese official will be in attendance at an inauguration, The Washington Post reported.

China’s state-run media did not provide details about Xi’s phone conversation with Trump, but the communist country’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement, “We stand ready to work with the new U.S. government to enhance dialogue and communication … and find the right way for the two countries to get along with each other.”

After winning the election in November, Trump appeared to dial back his tariff threat on China, saying he would only raise tariffs on Chinese goods by 10% unless the country stops the flow of illegal drugs into the U.S.

Fentanyl trafficking is the main Chinese drug export and a problem the president-elect has promised to address. According to a 2020 report from the Drug Enforcement Agency, China is “the primary source of fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances trafficked through international mail and express consignment operations environment, as well as the main source for all fentanyl-related substances trafficked into the United States.”

Current, Former Los Angeles Fire Officials Call For Chief’s Resignation In Unsigned Letter

Current and former officials with the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) are calling for LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley to resign immediately.

In a 5-page letter that includes no signatures, several current and former chief officers – which includes battalion chiefs, assistant chiefs, and deputy chiefs – blamed Crowley for the poor response to the California wildfires, NewsNation reported.

“Chief, please focus on your current duties and responsibilities which currently should be focused on mitigating and stabilizing the Palisades fire,” the officials wrote in a letter obtained by NewsNation’s Rich McHugh. “Your outburst regarding the budget and the statement that the ‘City failed the LAFD’ was ill-advised, poorly timed and took away from the most important issue, the Palisades fire.”

The letter is referring to Crowley’s comments on January 10, when she told reporters that city officials failed her department. Crowley also wrote a memo to L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, a Democrat, on December 4, 2024, arguing that Bass’ nearly $18 million in cuts to the fire department “severely limited the department’s capacity to prepare for, train for, and respond to large-scale emergencies, including wildfires.”

“Without this funding, pilot compliance and readiness are jeopardized, and aerial firefighting capabilities are diminished,” Crowley added.

The fire officials who now demand Crowley’s resignation claim she had “been aware of the budget issues of the LAFD prior to your appointment as Fire Chief [in March 2022],” yet she only now complains about those issues.

“Please do not be disingenuous as we know better,” the officials wrote. “You went along with the budget cuts and now that they have come back to haunt you, you appear to be in [cover your a**] mode.”

CELEBRATE #47 WITH 47% OFF DAILYWIRE+ MEMBERSHIPS + A FREE $20 GIFT

The officials then lay out 11 things they say have occurred under Crowley’s watch, including a lack of mechanics and updated equipment. The officials also complain about “lawsuits filed by females, minorities and command officers related to retaliation, harassment and hostile work environment issues.” When Crowley was appointed in 2022, she promised to focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), but such focus often leads to the very same lawsuits the officials now complain about. The DEI priorities could also lead to positions being filled without sufficient merit, potentially making the fire department less prepared to fight fires.

Without acknowledging the role that DEI has played in the lawsuits, the officials who called for Crowley’s resignation also pointed to the promotion of Kristine Larson to deputy chief, “despite [Crowley] knowing about her lack of professionalism and lack of emotional intelligence. The officials then cite Larson’s statement that if a man needed her to carry him out of a fire, “he got himself in the wrong place.”

NewsNation reported that around 100 current and former fire officials have received the letter, including Crowley. John Knox, a veteran fire official who was fired after refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine, told NewsNation that the current situation involving the wildfires is a “complete and utter lack of leadership.” He also blamed the lack of preparations on Crowley.

A spokesman with the LAFD wrote in an email on Thursday that Crowley was unable to respond to the letter as she is “focused on mitigating the fires,” The New York Times reported.

Biden Rips Red States, Says They ‘Screwed Up’ Their Economies. The Facts Differ.

In a recent interview on MSNBC, President Joe Biden took another shot at red states, claiming they “really screwed up in terms of the way they handled their economy.”

Biden told MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell, “I got a lot of criticism, understandably. We’ve invested more in red states than blue states. … For two reasons. One: red states really screwed up in terms of the way they handled their economy, the way they handle manufacturing and the way they handle supply chains.”

Biden then launched into one of his stories that may or may not have been apocryphal: “You know, I remember being out in Iowa, and I remember one of the big issues was there was a plant, a small plant of 300 people, been around for 70 years; my grandfather worked there, I worked there, my son works there, and they had the best education system at the time and made it the best state education system in the country, and all of a sudden the kid comes home after he graduates and says, ‘Mom, I gotta leave. There’s no job for me here. The factory shut down.’ Well, guess what? How do you run a country that way? How do you do that?”

BIDEN: "Red states really screwed up in terms of the way they handled their economy!"

Biden’s jab at red states simply does not comport with reality. As The Republican National Committee pointed out last September, Labor Department data showed that through last August, “16 of the top 20 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and 16 of the states have Republican-controlled legislatures. Out of the top 10 states with the least jobs recovered, eight are Democrat-led. Republican-led states, on average, have recovered 143 percent of their lost jobs compared to just 118 percent for Democrat-run states.

The Wall Street Journal reported in July 2022:

By many measures, red states—those that lean Republican—have recovered faster economically than Democratic-leaning blue ones, with workers and employers moving from the coasts to the middle of the country and Florida.Since February 2020, the month before the pandemic began, the share of all U.S. jobs located in red states has grown by more than half a percentage point, according to an analysis of Labor Department data by the Brookings Institution think tank. Red states have added 341,000 jobs over that time, while blue states were still short 1.3 million jobs as of May.

To track each state’s progress toward normal since the pandemic began, Moody’s Analytics developed an index of 13 metrics, including the value of goods and services produced, employment, retail sales and new-home listings. Eleven of the 15 states with the highest readings through mid-June were red. Eight of the bottom 10 were blue.

Greenland PM: ‘We Don’t Want To Be Americans … But We Want A Strong Cooperation’

Greenland Prime Minister Múte Egede responded to President-elect Donald Trump’s aspirations to acquire Greenland, telling Fox News on Thursday that he’s “open” to discussions over America’s role in Greenland’s defense but added that they are not interested in becoming Americans.

Egede was interviewed by Fox News host Bret Baier and asked about Trump’s repeated comments about Greenland becoming “part” of the U.S. Greenland, currently an autonomous territory of Denmark, is home to just over 56,000 people and potentially rich in minerals and oil. It is also strategically located between the U.S. and Russia.

“We don’t want to be Danes. We don’t even want to be Americans. We want to be Greenlanders,” Egede said.

Earlier this month, Egede announced at a press conference that it’s “time to take the next step” and pursue independence.

“Our cooperation with other countries, and our trade relations, cannot continue to take place solely through Denmark,” he remarked.

During his interview on Fox News, the prime minister emphasized the importance of Greenland’s partnership with NATO and the U.S., adding that he has no interest in becoming part of the U.S. as Trump has suggested.

“We will always be a part of NATO. We will always be a strong partner for the U.S.,” Egede said. “We are close neighbors. We have been incorporated in the last 80 years. And I think the future has a lot to offer, to cooperate with. But we want to also be clear, we don’t want to be Americans. We don’t want to be a part of the U.S., but we want strong cooperation together with the U.S.”

A key part of that cooperation, according to Egede, is keeping the U.S. military presence in Greenland, adding that it’s “especially” important “for your national security, and your national security is our security.”

Trump said last week that Greenland would “benefit tremendously” by becoming part of the U.S. The president-elect also shared a video of a man in Greenland putting on a “Make America Great Again” hat and urging him to “buy Greenland” because it no longer wants to be controlled by the Danish government.

Trump wrote alongside the video, “I am hearing that the people of Greenland are ‘MAGA.’ My son, Don Jr, and various representatives, will be traveling there to visit some of the most magnificent areas and sights. Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation. We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”

Donald Trump Jr. traveled to Greenland’s capital city of Nuuk for a short visit last week. Trump Jr. said the excursion was just “a very long personal day trip” and had nothing to do with “buying Greenland.”

It’s Time To Celebrate The Return Of The American-Made Man

American men made their voices heard in the 2024 election by overwhelmingly supporting President-elect Donald Trump, and now legacy media outlets are finally beginning to acknowledge the pain men have felt under years of woke nonsense.

On Thursday, CBS Mornings aired a segment featuring Michael Knowles on the importance men played in electing Trump.

“Trump appealed to men because he appealed to men,” Knowles told the CBS Mornings co-host. “He actually campaigned to try to win their votes.”

“When Kamala was campaigning, such as it was for young men, she sent out her husband to describe masculinity as toxic. Not a great way to win people over,” Knowles added. “She sent out Barack Obama to harangue black men who didn’t want to vote for her.”

CBS even played clips of second gentleman Doug Emhoff criticizing the current “trope” of masculinity and former President Barack Obama ridiculing black men who did not vote for Kamala Harris.

“This is not the way to win the hearts and minds of young men,” said Knowles.

Why did Donald Trump's message resonate with young men?

The Daily Wire host and Mayflower Cigars founder added, “It’s no wonder [the Left] turned men away, but it’s no wonder that they’ve turned women away either. Because women don’t want girly men. Women want men to be like men.”

“There were distinctions between the roles of men and women in the past that always had exceptions, but nevertheless were defined,” he continued. “But now in the name of equality, we seek to deny any distinction. I think what men want and what women want, for that matter, is just to return to a kind of normal society where we can have our traditional way of life and not be constantly taken aback by all sorts of ideological matters. And I think Trump, in his own way, offered that.”

Trump will be sworn into office on Monday, in large part, because the men of America took a stand and went to the polls. It’s clear that President Trump has a mandate to bring back innovation, security, and prosperity to the United States of America.

There’s no better way for American men to celebrate Donald Trump’s return to the presidency than to light a Mayflower Cigar. Right now you can still order our signature Mayflower 8-Cigar Assortment. Supreme Court Upholds TikTok Ban

While the main opinion was not signed, two concurring opinions were attached from Justice Neil Gorsuch and Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

The court said that those challenging the ban, including a group of TikTok users, did not provide any examples of the law actually curtailing their speech.

“It is not clear that the Act itself directly regulates protected expressive activity, or conduct with an expressive component. Indeed, the Act does not regulate the creator petitioners at all. And it directly regulates ByteDance Ltd. and TikTok Inc. only through the divestiture requirement,” the court wrote.

The court added that the regulations imposed by the law, which was signed by President Joe Biden in April, were content neutral.

“They impose TikTok-specific prohibitions due to a foreign adversary’s control over the platform and make divestiture a prerequisite for the platform’s continued operation in the United States,” the court wrote. “The Government also supports the challenged provisions with a content-neutral justification: preventing China from collecting vast amounts of sensitive data from 170 million U. S. TikTok users.”

The law from Congress says that TikTok will be banned as long as it is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. If it is sold to an American company, it will no longer be banned. There have been various proposals floated to save TikTok, including from “Shark Tank” investor Kevin O’Leary, who has partnered with a group called “The People’s Bid for TikTok.”

Israeli Security Cabinet Votes To Approve Ceasefire And Hostage Deal

Israel’s security cabinet voted to approve the ceasefire and hostage deal between the Jewish state and Hamas on Friday. The deal is still awaiting a vote in the full cabinet in order to be approved.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, both of whom have voiced their reservations about the deal’s potential risks to Israel’s security, voted no. Ben-Gvir threatened to quit the government if the deal was approved.

Netanyahu’s Likud Party responded by stating that “Anyone who dissolves the right-wing government will be remembered as an eternal disgrace.”

In the deal’s first phase, about 33 hostages will be exchanged for 1,000 Palestinian terrorists in Israeli prisons. The Israel Defense Forces will also withdraw from parts of the Gaza Strip. The fate of the 65 hostages who remain in Gaza is set to be discussed in the later stages of the deal.

The names of the 33 hostages have been released, and the list includes two Americans: Keith Siegel, 65, and Sagui Dekel-Chen, 36. The first three hostages could be released as early as Sunday, pending the deal’s approval. Only 22 of those hostages are believed to be alive.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on X that two French citizens, Ofer Kalderon and Ohad Yahalomi, are expected to be among the first released.

The full cabinet is expected to meet later on Friday.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog welcomed the vote’s results, stating that he expects “the government to follow suit in swiftly affirming this decision.”

“This is a vital step toward fulfilling the highest covenant between the state and its citizens,” he said. “There is no greater moral, human, Jewish, and Israeli duty. We must bring all of our hostages back home.”

EXCLUSIVE: Watchdog Warns Land O’Lakes To Steer Clear Of ‘Unrealistic’ Climate Targets

Watchdog group Consumers’ Research warned butter giant Land O’Lakes on Friday that its climate-focused initiatives could expose it to lawsuits that may raise costs for customers, according to a letter first shared with The Daily Wire.

In a letter to Land O’Lakes CEO Beth Ford, Consumers’ Research Executive Director Will Hild said that the agricultural company should stop pushing net-zero initiatives and focus on satisfying customers. Hild said the climate targets could create legal risks, pointing to a lawsuit filed against meat processor JBS by New York Attorney General Letitia James over its climate promises.

“Consumers’ Research is concerned that it is only a matter of time before national grocers, food producers, and food retailers, including Land O’ Lakes, Inc., are subjected to state actions targeting their unrealistic net-zero commitments, as has happened with JBS,” Hild wrote.

Hild’s letter pointed to multiple Land O’Lakes climate goals, which closely mirror net-zero targets set by JBS. These goals, featured in its 2021 ESG report and 2023 Community Impact report, include reducing direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030, and net-zero in 2050.

“As this comparison makes plain, Land O’ Lakes’ statements on emissions reduction goals expose the company to the same type of litigation JBS currently faces,” Hild wrote.

James has alleged that JBS’s net-zero target is “greenwashing” that “exploits the pocketbooks of everyday Americans and the promise of a healthy planet for future generations” by misleading customers.

“The JBS lawsuit by General James has made plain that there is risk lurking in the ESG and sustainability commitments of countless grocers and food retailers. There is no better time than now for Land O’ Lakes to course correct, remove this ESG risk, and pivot back to a pro-consumer approach to its business,” Hild wrote.

The letter went out the same time as Consumers’ Research sent out a “woke alert” detailing how Land O’Lakes has embraced a variety of other DEI and ESG policies.

For example, the company detailed in its 2021 ESG report that it had mandated “unconscious bias training for all people leaders,” noted that the company has an annual DEI-themed summit, and boasted that it scored 100% when ranked by the leftist Human Rights Campaign.

Its 2023 community impact report also included a bar measuring how many non-white males it had working for the company.

Screen shot: Community impact report Land O’Lakes.

The report said that the company wants to “expand supplier equity” and has instituted a “Supplier Diversity Program.” This program is for the company to focus on working with businesses owned by women, minorities, people who identify as gay or transgender, and disabled people.

In addition to its net-zero goals, Land O’Lakes also pushes several climate focused initiatives.

For example, the community impact report said that the company was “committed to helping our member-owners reduce the environmental impact of farming, especially the impacts of on-farm greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions” through its Dairy 2025 initiative. As part of this project, the company hires consultants to measure the farmers’ “milk emission factor.”

In 2020, the Minnesota-based Land O’Lakes dropped the American Indian woman who had adorned its packaging for nearly 100 years after some people complained the logo was racist.

Biden Commutes Sentences Of Another 2,500 Drug Offenders

President Joe Biden announced Friday that he was commuting the sentences of 2,500 drug offenders in what will be one of his final actions in office.

Biden said that those whose sentences were commuted were “non-violent” offenders who had been given “disproportionately long sentences.” The announcement means that Biden has now handed out the most pardons or commutations of any president.

“Today, I am commuting the sentences of nearly 2,500 people convicted of non-violent drug offenses who are serving disproportionately long sentences compared to the sentences they would receive today under current law, policy, and practice,” Biden said. “With this action, I have now issued more individual pardons and commutations than any president in U.S. history.”

He said the action was for individuals who “received lengthy sentences based on discredited distinctions between crack and powder cocaine” and “outdated sentencing enhancements for drug crimes.”

In his statement, Biden pointed to multiple sentencing laws passed by Congress, including the First Step Act, which then-President Donald Trump signed during his first term in office.

“This action is an important step toward righting historic wrongs, correcting sentencing disparities, and providing deserving individuals the opportunity to return to their families and communities after spending far too much time behind bars,” Biden said. “I am proud of my record on clemency and will continue to review additional commutations and pardons.”

CELEBRATE #47 WITH 47% OFF DAILYWIRE+ MEMBERSHIPS + A FREE $20 GIFT

Biden previously commuted the sentences of 1,500 people, issued 39 pardons for individuals convicted of non-violent crimes, and gave a mass pardon for people convicted of marijuana possession.

Biden has faced criticism over his clemency actions, including when he commuted the death sentences of 37 of 40 prisoners on federal death row, each of whom had been convicted of murder, just two days before Christmas.

One of those whose death sentence was commuted was Thomas Sanders, who was convicted in 2014 of kidnapping and murdering 12-year-old Lexis Roberts. Sanders kidnapped Roberts after he shot her mother in the head. He held Roberts captive for several days before he shot her four times, cut her throat, and hid her body in the woods.

Biden was also sharply criticized for his sweeping pardon of his son Hunter, which came after he had previously promised not to do so.

These Are The 33 Hostages Set To Be Released In First Phase Of Israeli-Hamas Hostage Deal

The names of the 33 hostages expected to be released as part of the ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas have been published. The deal is awaiting approval by the Israeli government’s full cabinet.

The hostages who may soon regain their freedom are mostly women and elderly people. The release is expected to take place over a six-week period, with the first three hostages possibly being freed on Sunday if the deal is approved.

Only 22 of the hostages are believed to be alive. The list includes two children, Ariel Bibas, 5, and Yarden Bibas, 2, who have captured the world’s attention after a video showed their mother holding them as they were taken hostage.

Two of seven American hostages are set to be freed: Keith Siegel, 65, and Sagui Dekel-Chen, 36.

Earlier this year, The Daily Wire interviewed Dekel-Chen’s father, who described his son as a hardworking man. Dekel-Chen was taken hostage on October 7, after hiding his pregnant wife and children in a safe room before going to help defend his kibbutz.

Siegel, originally from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is an occupational therapist. His wife was freed in the November 2023 hostage deal.

In exchange for the hostages, about 1,000 Palestinian terrorists will be released from Israeli prisons during the first phase. The Israel Defense Forces will also withdraw from parts of the Gaza Strip under the agreement. The 65 hostages who will remain after the first phase of the deal will be negotiated for in later stages.

The hostages who will be released are:

‘We Cannot Stand For That’: Ashley Moody Lays Out Her Agenda In U.S. Senate

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody (R) expressed excitement on Thursday after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) named her as the replacement for Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) in the U.S. Senate after President-elect Donald Trump nominated Rubio for Secretary of State.

Speaking in Orlando immediately after DeSantis announced that she was his appointment for the seat, Moody said that she only had a few hours to figure out what she was going to say.

She gave DeSantis full credit for everything that Florida has become under his leadership as the state.

“I will bring the same persistence and passion and tenacity as a United States senator that I have brought as Florida’s Attorney General,” she said. “If you have worked with me and fought with me over the last six years, you know I don’t think of this as a job, I think of it as a calling. Every day I go to work, every decision that I make, every person I hire, I do so with the understanding that the people of Florida gave me this opportunity, and I want to deliver on what I assured them, and that was we were going to protect their rights.”

She said that she believes that her highly energetic nature could help change the culture in Washington, D.C.

“I probably won’t like it, but I’m ready to show up and fight for this nation and fight for President Trump to deliver the American first agenda on day one,” she said. “What has angered me the most as attorney general, as I have had to fight the Biden administration over the last four years, when we have seen policy after policy after rule, after financial decisions, spending out of these agencies, as the agencies have gotten bigger, as they have taken more power, as they have tried to tell the states what to do more and more and more — all that does is take the will of the people, the want of the people, through their elected representatives in Congress, and turns this into a country we don’t even recognize anymore.”

“And whether it’s agencies making these decisions when lawmakers should, unelected bureaucrats, or whether it’s international organizations making decisions that our lawmakers should, we cannot stand for that,” she added. “The only way to return this country to the people, the people who govern it, is to make sure we have a strong Congress doing its job passing laws and actually approving the regulations that these unelected bureaucrats are trying to cram down on the American people.”

Trump Nominee Scott Bessent Shuts Down Elizabeth Warren Over Billionaire Tax Codes

President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to be the Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, sparred with Sen. Elizabeth (D-MA) on Thursday during his confirmation hearing in front of the Senate Finance Committee.

The exchange happened when Warren asked him to follow up on a question Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) had asked him about taxing billionaires.

“It was Senator Warnock who asked you about, is there any billionaire rich enough who you wouldn’t support a tax cut for going forward,” Warren said.

“I think it’s unwise to single out any–,” Bessent began to respond before Warren cut him off.

“Rich people?” she snapped back.

“Any individual,” he responded.

“Oh okay,” Warren replied. “Is there a group of billionaires, you can just pick a dollar figure and there can be more than one above that?”

“I could give you a glib answer, but I won’t,” Bessent responded. “But you know again, that’s not where the money is. At one point when President Obama was debating Mitt Romney, the moderator said, ‘But sir, that would make collections go down.’ And he said, ‘Yeah, but it’s about fairness.'”

“And I have to tell you some Warren, I’m about collection,” he continued.

Warren seemed to miss the entire point that he was making as she proceeded to give the same answer as Obama, saying: “I understand, but I like to think that fairness is about billionaires actually paying their fair share too.”

Queer Time, Black Shakespeare, and Afrofuturism: The Wokest College Courses In America

From “Queer Time, Queer Space” to “Black Shakespeare,” universities across the United States are offering left-wing courses that range from the radical to the downright strange.

It’s no surprise that elite colleges and universities have left-wing biases. But rather than offer courses on Marx or critical theory, many institutions are going even further in the spring semester. Academics are bringing increasingly fringe subjects to the classroom, “queering” the world of architecture and “racializing” science fiction.

Here are some of the most woke classes being offered on college campuses this semester.

Art Films: Queer Time, Queer Space (Brown University)

The Ivy League institution in Providence, Rhode Island is offering students Art Films: Queer Time, Queer Space, which will encourage “a sustained meditation on cinematic practices that trouble and disrupt normative, reproductive, developmental, and accumulative time.” The description goes into more depth, explaining its methods.

“By situating queer theories of temporality in proximity to time-based art-making, we will engage with and analyze art films, digital media, and performative works that push the boundaries of the aesthetically and politically possible,” it adds.

Spaces of Queer Theory (University of California Berkeley)

Not to be outdone, UC Berkeley is hosting “Spaces of Queer Theory,” a class that examines architectural practices and their interactions with queer politics. It will delve into “queer necropolitics and the carceral state” as well as “the architectural futurity of queer communities,” all while discussing “queering architecture,” “queer ecologies,” and “spaces of queer consumption.”

Black Shakespeare; Race, Climate Change, and Environmental Justice (Columbia University)

Called “Black Shakespeare,” the Columbia University course raises the question, “Can performing Shakespeare be an activist endeavor?” It goes further. “Can creators and scholars separate Shakespeare from the apparatus of white supremacy that has been built around his works?” the course description inquires. It even probes, “What are the challenges and obstacles for BIPOC scholars working on Shakespeare in academia?”

Students at Columbia can also take “Race, Climate Change, and Environmental Justice,” which seeks to untether science from its “colonial foundations” and encourages students to “decolonize their own research.”

“We begin by examining the colonial foundations of the sciences, with a special focus on the geo- and climate sciences,” the description explains. “The ideological underpinnings of these sciences assume the earth to be an inert object ripe for exploitation; this legacy of European modernity is often at odds with the worldviews of indigenous peoples and their relations with nature.”

AfroFuturism (Vassar College)

“Afrofuturists reconfigure notions of race and identity by appropriating science fiction tropes while speculating potential futures free from any Eurocentric gaze,” reads the description of the course at the Poughkeepsie, New York college.

“Beginning with Afrofuturist progenitor Sun Ra, we go “black to the future” and closely encounter other Afronauts such as Octavia Butler, Janelle Monáe, Nnedi Okorafor, OutKast, Parliament-Funkadelic, Ishmael Reed, and Fatimah Tuggar, among others.”

The Sexual Life of Colonialism; Race, Gender, and Medicine (Harvard University)

Students at Harvard University are invited to take a course called “Race, Gender, and Medicine” which employs “feminist theory, disability justice movements, critical race theory, queer theory, anti-colonial thought, and trans liberation movements.” One of the focuses of the course, the description explains, is “the development and racialization of transgender medicine.” It also poses the question, “What unique challenges do trans and gender-diverse youth face in seeking medical care as a result of recent transphobic laws and policies?”

Another course at the institution is titled “The Sexual Life of Colonialism” and seeks to “investigate the role of colonialism and neocolonialism in racial imaginations of gender and sexuality.”

Black Feminist and Queer Contemporary Culture (Swarthmore College)

Pennsylvania’s Swarthmore College will offer a course on “Black Feminist and Queer Contemporary Culture,” with a focus on “the works of black queer and trans visual artists and writers.”

“Using the tools of black feminist and queer theory, the class will cover topics and concepts such as Afrofuturism, stereotypes, intersectionality, surveillance, film, performance, abstraction/figuration, photography, poetry, and ungendering,” the description states.

Queer and Trans of Color Critique; Queer and Trans Latino Studies (Northwestern University)

Evanston, Illinois’ Northwestern University joins the ranks of the other institutions with classes on race and queer politics. Students can take both “Queer and Trans of Color Critique” and “Queer and Trans Latino Studies,” the latter of which “will explore the construction of gender and sexuality as it intersects with race, class, immigration, and other relationships of power” and focus on “Black feminist, women of color feminist, and queer of color critique writing and activism.”

Queer, Quare, Ku’er: or Queer of Color Critique (University of Chicago)

The highly-ranked University of Chicago advertises a course titled “Queer, Quare, Ku’er: or queer of color critique,” which poses the question “what could queer theory look like if we begin from the premise that its model subject is not white?”

It also has a number of different courses on queer politics, including “Queer Theory and Queer Practice,” “The Aesthetics of Camp: Queer Style, Queer Sensibility,” and “Queer Theology and Queer of Color Critique.”

Trump Demands FBI Retain All Records From DEI Office It Closed

President-elect Donald Trump demanded on Thursday night that the FBI retain all records from the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) office that it closed last month.

The Bureau quietly closed its Office of Diversity and Inclusion last month ahead of Trump’s inauguration as the president-elect has promised to gut DEI efforts throughout the federal government — a move that many corporations have started to do over the last year.

“We demand that the FBI preserve and retain all records, documents, and information on the now closing DEI Office—Never should have been opened and, if it was, should have closed long ago,” Trump wrote on social media. “Why is it that they’re closing one day before the Inauguration of a new Administration? The reason is, CORRUPTION!”

The FBI said in a statement that it closed the office last month, but it did not elaborate on why.

The FBI’s DEI agenda recently came under fire from Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), who warned that the ideological agenda is being elevated over the mission of ensuring the safety of Americans. “I am deeply concerned that—under your leadership—the Bureau has prioritized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives over its core mission of protecting the American people,” Blackburn said in a letter earlier this month.

One former FBI special agent Nicole Parker blasted the “constant push for social justice weaponization at the FBI whose top priorities are to protect the American people and uphold the constitution” in a statement of her own.

CELEBRATE #47 WITH 47% OFF DAILYWIRE+ MEMBERSHIPS + A FREE $20 GIFT

The FBI still lists the Office of Diversity and Inclusion on its website, explaining that the office’s mission is to “provide guidance and implement programs that promote a diverse and inclusive workplace that allows all employees to succeed and advance.”

“The FBI’s efforts to diversify are crucial to creating an inclusive workforce and to being increasingly effective and efficient in our investigations and keeping the American public safe,” a quote from the FBI’s first Chief Diversity Officer Scott McMillion also reads on the site.

It also encourages employees to join employee resource groups, identity-based associations that The Daily Wire found are used as activist nodes to push the leftwing agenda. It is unclear if these groups will be discontinued along with the agency’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Various different agencies across the federal government are still pursuing the DEI agenda, however, with agencies under the Biden administration taking an estimated 500 actions intended to embed and promote DEI. Upon being inaugurated next week, Trump and his administration will have the opportunity to fire woke bureaucrats who may attempt to stonewall his policy agenda and purge the DEI agenda from the bureaucracy and military.

DeSantis Taps His Chief Of Staff To Be Florida’s New Attorney General

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) announced on Thursday that he has tapped his chief of staff James Uthmeier to be the state’s next attorney general.

DeSantis made the remarks after he announced that he had selected Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody to replace Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) in the U.S. Senate after he was nominated to serve as President-elect Donald Trump’s Secretary of State.

“My Chief of Staff, James Uthmeier, is kind of like Ashley. He’s proven himself in these fights,” DeSantis said in Orlando. “I think he’s got big shoes to fill, but I think he’ll do a good job doing that.”

“So you can anticipate that,” he continued. “I’m not going to make any appointment before it’s available, but I think that’s something that will happen.”

While Uthmeier waits for the appointment to become official — which will happen after Rubio is confirmed by the U.S. Senate — he did release a statement thanking the governor.

Kid Rock Has A Message For Michelle Obama After She Decides To Skip Trump’s Inauguration

Kid Rock had a message about respect for former first lady Michelle Obama after she announced she’s skipping the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.

During the rocker’s appearance on Thursday on FOX News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime,” the host asked the 53-year-old singer about performing at Trump’s second inauguration and if this was his first one.

Kid Rock said it wasn’t his first, reminding Watters that he first attended and performed for the inauguration of former President Barack Obama.

“I was actually listening to your show a little bit before I got in the truck here. And I heard Michelle Obama’s not attending,” Kid Rock said. “I would kindly remind her that years back, when Obama was first elected, I did not vote for him, but they asked me to play the inauguration, and I played it, and I went, had a good time.”

“I went for — out of respect to the presidency,” he added. “So I would kindly remind Ms. Michelle about that.”

Watters then asked the singer why he thought the former first lady wouldn’t be attending “when all the other first ladies are.”

“I don’t know,” Kid Rock replied. “She seems a little angry. She might be — wow. I don’t know. If you can’t say something nice, let me hear it.”

On Wednesday, the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee announced that superstars Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean, along with the “Cowboy” hitmaker, will be just a few of the singers participating in the various inauguration events.

At a rally before the inauguration, Kid Rock and country singer Billy Ray Cyrus will perform along with the American disco band the Village People, who will also sing at one of the inaugural balls.

Speaking on Watters, Kid Rock said he was putting together something very special for the rally.

“I mean, I have spent so much time on this, when I was first asked to do it, and it was kind of a thing where they’re like, can you show up and play the track, do a couple songs?” Ritchie said.

“And I was like, respectfully, I’m not interested in that at all. I’d rather help you any way I can. I’m a supporter,” he added. “And so I came up and I put something together, put it all down on paper to the minute, everything choreographed — this, this, and this. They loved it.”

Of course, we get into it. And we’re going through the due diligence to get it done. And God bless them,” Kid Rock continued. “Here comes the Secret Service and they’re like, yes, we can’t — we can’t light off fireworks and have big pyrotechnics … but we still got something very special planned.”

The breakdown of all the performances can be found here.

Cruz Releases Ad Promoting Justice For Jocelyn Act

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) released a powerful new ad on Thursday promoting the Justice for Jocelyn Act.

The legislation was named after Jocelyn Nungaray, a 12-year-old who was allegedly murdered by two illegal aliens Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26.

The Justice for Jocelyn Act would require that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) fill every detention bed before enrolling any illegal alines in the “alternative to detention” program.

The bill would require that all illegal aliens released as part of this program be subject to GPS monitoring and they would have a curfew imposed on them.

“Last year, I began the fight for justice for 12-year-old Jocelyn,” Cruz said. “The aliens responsible for her murder crossed the southern border illegally and should have been detained by ICE.”

“Democrats’ reckless open-border policies prevented ICE and Border Patrol agents from acting, left thousands of detention center beds empty, and allowed these criminals to go free,” he continued. “Congress should act with urgency to ensure no other American family ever has to endure what Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis Nungaray, has been forced to face.”

Democrat Staffers Push To Reduce Full-Time Work Week To 32 Hours

Democrat staff members who belong to a far-Left caucus wrote a letter to congressional leaders this week asking that they reduce the full-time work week to just 32 hours so that they do not get burned out.

The Congressional Progressive Staff Association, which represents House and Senate employees across the country, claimed that their proposal was about “a more sustainable approach to work on a national level.”

“By adopting a 32-hour workweek for staff on a rotating basis, you can accomplish these goals while retaining the productivity and quality of work you expect and deserve from your team,” they claimed. “We urge you to consider piloting the program in your own offices and encouraging your fellow Members across your conference or caucus to do the same.”

They complained that their jobs working for members of Congress were “often demanding and intensive.”

“Staffers routinely work long hours at a level of rigor that regularly leads to burnout,” the letter claimed.

The proposal, which was widely mocked online, said that members should institute “a 32-hour workweek for D.C.-based staff during district work periods and a 32-hour workweek for district-based staff while in-session.”

“Doing so — without a reduction in pay — would allow both D.C. and distinct staff to be fully available around the clock throughout more intensive periods when the Member is in town while allowing for a more sustainable schedule when workloads are more manageable,” they added. “If implemented, offices are not likely to see a drop in overall productivity.”

The staffers claimed that members who were skeptical should “engage in a six-month pilot” to see if the reduction in hours leads to increased outcomes.

Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT) responded to the letter: “Members of Congress are always looking to hire and retain the best staff—hard workers who you can count on to go above and beyond on behalf of constituents.”

“My advice to these ‘progressive staffers’ is simple: find a new industry. Public service is clearly not meant for you,” he added.

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) responded: “If progressive hill staffers worked 0 hours per week, it would probably do more to help the Democrats win than anything else they could do.”

“You want to work 32 hours but get paid for 40? Nope,” said Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL). “The taxpayers aka your boss, deserve folks who hustle and work hard FULL TIME on their behalf. This is public service after all…”

‘Get To Work Helping Californians’: Johnson Slams Newsom After CA Gov Complains About Wildfire Aid

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) shamed California Governor Gavin Newsom after the governor posted a video attacking the Republican speaker over potential federal aid California may receive.

“Instead of making highly produced clap back videos with social media influencers, you should get to work helping Californians,” Johnson replied to Newsom on X. “You’re the leader of a state in crisis, and you should finally start acting like it.”

The comment came in reply to a video Newsom had posted in an attempt to embarrass Johnson and other congressional Republicans. GOP lawmakers have floated conditional aid for California to help cover the cost of recent wildfires that have destroyed thousands of homes. The conditions would mandate some improvements to California wildfire preparedness, such as cleaning out dead brush in high-risk areas and building more water infrastructure.

“Never in California questioned whether or not we as taxpayers in the largest state in the Union should support the people of Louisiana at a time of emergency and need. We never conditioned it,” Newsom says in the video.

“A state with millions and millions of Trump supporters, Speaker Johnson and Mr. President-elect. Millions of your supporters are out here. They need your help. They need your empathy. They need your care, whatever compassion you can express as opposed to condemnation,” he says.

Instead of making highly produced clap back videos with social media influencers, you should get to work helping Californians.

While Trump and Johnson have not condemned Californians over the deadly Los Angeles County fires, they have been critical of state and local officials for the failure to protect Los Angeles communities from the wildfires.

Trump said in a Truth Social post earlier this month that Newsom “refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way.”

“He is the blame for this. On top of it all, no water for fire hydrants, not firefighting planes. A true disaster!” Trump said.

Johnson was similarly critical of California leadership in comments this week.

“Obviously, there has been water resource management, forest management, mistakes, all sorts of problems, and it does come down to leadership, and it appears to us that state and local leaders were derelict in their duty, and in many respects,” Johnson said when talking about strings that may be attached to federal aid to California. “So, that’s something that has to be factored in.”
