NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAV) -- Newport News police arrested a 21-year-old man in connection to a fatal November car crash.

Police say driver killed in multi-vehicle crash in Newport News

On Nov. 14, officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Mercury Boulevard around 12:10 a.m.

A preliminary investigation determined that a driver in a Nissan Vera was traveling westbound on Mercury Boulevard and drove through a red light striking a Chrysler 200, which was traveling southbound on Jefferson Avenue with a green light. This led both the Chrysler and Nissan to hit two other vehicles.

The driver of the Chrysler, Calvin Gilmore-Vick, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, Deyonte Lamont Perkins, 21, was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Following the investigation, Perkins was arrested Tuesday. He was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving.
