Starbucks will be providing free coffee the Monday after the Super Bowl, Feb. 10, the Seattle-based company announced.

"With the big game on Sunday, Feb. 9, many Americans will spend the day going big – which may lead to a long Monday," an announcement on the Starbucks website said.

"That’s why on Monday, Feb. 10, your post-game day coffee is on us. Starbucks Rewards members in the U.S. can stop in for a free tall (12 fl. oz.) hot or iced brewed coffee any time on Starbucks Monday," it said.

"If you're a Starbucks Rewards member, apply the Starbucks Monday coupon in the Starbucks app prior to placing your order when using the order ahead feature in the app, or let your barista know you're redeeming your Starbucks Monday coupon when ordering in the store or in the drive-thru," Starbucks said on its website.Β

Pizza fans who are also hopeless romantics are in luck this Valentine's Day.

Several chains are selling heart-shaped pies this year.

Pizza Hut first sold the pies in 2017 β€” and will be bringing them back for Valentine's Day in 2025, the Texas-based restaurant chain's website said. Β

"Heart-shaped pizza is a medium 1-topping hand-tossed pizza that's, you guessed it, shaped like a heart," according to the Pizza Hut website.

The item, the website said, could be for almost any occasion, including "Valentine's, Galentine's or whatever-tine's."Β 

Buyers should know that the heart-shaped pizza does have an odd quirk beyond its shape: It's not sliced.Β 

"Pizza arrives uncut because we don't break hearts, we bake them," Pizza Hut stated.

The heart-shaped pizza will be available from Feb. 11 through Feb 17, the brand said.Β 

Pizza Hut is not the only pizza chain to add a romantic touch to its pies this February.

Papa Johns' heart-shaped pizza is baked with a thin crust and comes with one topping, the Kentucky-based chain said on its website.Β 

"Experience love at first bite this Valentine's Day," Papa Johns said.Β

The prices of fast-food items have been rising steadily over the years β€” and some restaurants use a technique that entices people to pay more than perhaps they were planning to, a psychotherapist told Fox News Digital.Β 

The so-called "charm pricing" technique is why many menu items are not priced at full dollar amounts, Jonathan Alpert, a New York-based psychotherapist and author, told Fox News Digital.

"Our brains process numbers quickly and often emotionally, especially during purchasing decisions," Alpert said.

FAST-FOOD MENU ITEMS THAT CHEFS LIKE TO EAT

When an item is priced at $9.99, "our minds latch onto the '9' as the anchor, associating it with a smaller cost, even if logically we know it's close to $10," he said.Β 

This is called the "left-digit effect," according to the food and culture website The Takeout.Β 

"This can trick you into feeling like an item is less expensive," according to The Takeout.Β 

"If you're buying three items priced at $5.99, your brain might immediately assume the total is $15, when in actuality it's closer to $18."

It added that people may feel they're "getting a bargain or a deal."Β

Aside from this "charm pricing," restaurants try other ways to get people to spend more money than they planned, Alpert said. Β 

These include offering an "appealing menu design or descriptive language that makes the purchase feel more worthwhile and indulgent," he said.Β

Fox News Digital also reached out to several fast-food chains seeking comment.

Alpert noted that there are ways to combat the pressure to overspend.

"A helpful tip is to always round up," he said. "When you see $9.99, think of it as $10."

Doing this, he said, "can reduce the emotional impact of charm pricing and help you make more rational decisions."

Another technique is to think through purchases carefully and make a decision to spend less impulsively.Β

New NYC 'char broil' rule would force restaurants to cut emissions by 75%

New York officials are considering imposing emissions restrictions on a popular grilling appliance as their latest climate crackdown, claiming that such regulations could prevent premature deaths.

The blue state's Department of Environmental Protection proposed a new rule to establish emissions standards for under-fire commercial char broilers, a commonly used method of cooking meat that gives it a smokey taste.Β 

The proposed rule would force all New York City restaurants using under-fire char broilers installed after May 2016 to cut emissions from the appliance by 75%.

Additionally, under the rule, NYC restaurants that char-broil more than 875 pounds of meat per week would not be allowed to operate, with the exception that the business has an approved emissions control device.

In the proposed rule, reviewed by Fox News Digital, officials claimed that such regulations on meat cooking appliances could prevent hundreds of deaths.Β 

The document cited a study by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on premature deaths attributed to particulate matter (PM) β€” solid particles like smoke or dust, released when cooking or burning fires.

"If all char broilers had control technology installed, the reduction in ambient PM concentrations could have prevented nearly 350 of these premature deaths each year," the proposed rule reads.

The study reportedly found that commercial char broilers released an estimated 1,400 tons of PM per year in New York's five boroughs, which they concluded contributed to more than 12% of PM attributable premature deaths annually from 2005 to 2007.Β 

But restaurant owners are fuming at the potential regulation.

"The fact that this is even an issue is a nothingburger," Alan Rosen, who owns Juniors in NYC, a restaurant that uses the charred meat method, told the New York Post. Β 

"People are getting knifed in the subway, and they’re worried about charbroilers? We’ve been doing this for almost 75 years. It’s absolutely ridiculous."

In the proposed rule, the department acknowledges the difficulty in requiring New York City restaurants to undergo emissions tests.

"Demonstrating the 75% PM reduction presented a challenge for many restaurant owners who do not have an Environmental Protection Agency Method 5 certified emissions control device," the proposal reads.

A public hearing on the proposed rule will be held on Jan. 29, 2025.

Customers recently noticed that Chick-fil-A's waffle potato fries seemed to be a little different.Β 

As it turns out, the customers weren't imagining things.Β 

The recipe for the fries changed last year, following testing for "over a year" in various markets, a spokesperson from the Atlanta-based fast-food restaurant chain told Fox News Digital.Β 

"We know Chick-fil-A fans love our waffle potato fries," Chick-fil-A spokesperson Bryan Malenius said. "Last year we made a slight adjustment to our waffle potato fries recipe, which offers the same great taste while also making our waffle potato fries stay crispier longer."
