Yellowstone to Yosemite: Kevin Costner tells the 'stranger than fiction' story of taming the American frontier

10 February 2025 at 08:07

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.Β

It's an old adage, one Kevin Costner says holds especially true in the story of the untamed American frontier.

The "Field of Dreams" and "Dances with Wolves" legend brings this idea to life in "Yellowstone to Yosemite," a new three-part Fox Nation series that explores how a seemingly unrelated string of events set the stage for one of the most pivotal moments in American history.

"It's a story about a confluence of tragic events separated by time and space intersecting in a seemingly impossible manner. And somehow something incredible came out of all of it," Costner explained.

"A young boy suffering from severe asthma, a president's assassination, a horrible accident at a wagon wheel factory – unrelated events in most people's minds, but they all needed to happen for this story to unfold, for two men to come together for three days out in the wild. Three days that would change America forever…"

FOX NATION TO PREMIERE β€˜YELLOWSTONE TO YOSEMITE’ WITH KEVIN COSTNER

"That's a story worth telling, don't you think?"

Costner teamed up with the Fox Nation platform for "Yellowstone to Yosemite" following the success of his breakout hit, "Yellowstone: One-Fifty."

Through the Hollywood legend's distinctive perspective, the new series traces the footsteps of President Teddy Roosevelt and environmental advocate John Muir's pivotal 1903 Yosemite expedition.

In the process, he brings to life the story of America's indigenous legacy, the outsiders that came along and how Muir became a crusader for America's wildest places.

"Two men embark on a camping trip. These two men have never met before. They pushed through heavy snow, get soaked with rain and wash down steaks with hot coffee," he explained.

"They didn't set out to change America, but what they dreamed up around the campfire – some might call it ingenious. Others might say cunning. But, boy, did it work."

The elements of the tale, all essential to preserving the captivating story of the American frontier, led to America's more structured National Park System today – 150 National Forests, five National Parks, along with the preservation and protection of 230 million acres of land.

The series debuted on the Fox Nation platform over the weekend, with new episodes dropping each week.

Kevin Costner's ex engaged to family friend nearly one year after finalizing divorce with 'Yellowstone' star

29 January 2025 at 18:04

Kevin Costner's ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner, is reportedly off the market.

The purse designer, who finalized her divorce from the "Yellowstone" star in February 2024, is engaged to financier Joshua Connor, according to People magazine.

Romance rumors between Baumgartner and Connor sparked in July 2023 when the couple was spotted on vacation in Hawaii.Β

Nearly one year later, the pair confirmed their relationship while walking hand-in-hand together in Santa Barbara, California, shortly after she finalized her divorce with Costner.

Connor reportedly proposed after an intimate dinner in Santa Barbara, California. "It was about to rain, so almost no one else was on the beach when Josh got down on one knee," a source told the outlet.

Representatives for Costner did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Baumgartner filed for divorce on May 1, 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. In documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Christine cited April 11 as the date of separation.Β

She initially requested $248,000 in monthly child support for their three children, and a judge set a temporary monthly sum of $129,755 in July, only to rule in September that Costner would be responsible for $63,209 in monthly child support payments.

Connor's name became a focal point during Baumgartner and Costner's child custody payment hearing last year when Costner's legal team called into question a $20,000 loan from a "boyfriend" who they named as Josh.

Fox News Digital was in the courthouse when Baumgarter took the stand and said Connor was a longtime friend of "seven or eight years." When Rydell asked, "Is he your boyfriend?" Baumgartner replied, "No."

She recalled traveling to Hawaii in March with Connor and his daughter, and a group of friends. Costner didn’t go because "he wanted to do a speech with a hunting club." The Costners paid for the vacation home where the families stayed.

On July, Baumgartner traveled back to Hawaii with a group of friends and their children, including Connor and his daughter, who is "best friends" with Grace Costner, 13. Baumgartner said Connor "paid for the house."

When Rydell asked about claims Connor "gave Christine money," she said, "I can’t remember if it was before or after (the March or July trips to Hawaii.)" She continued, "He gave me $20,000."Β

Of the $20,000, the purse designer said, "I gave $10,000 to my mother." She then became emotional on the stand. "She was concerned about her house," Baumgartner noted.

Baumgartner filed for divorce in May 2023. The two went through a bitter court battle over custody of their children, with Costner coming out on top. Baumgartner and the actor finalized their divorce in February 2024.

Before the former couple signed a settlement agreement, Costner told Fox News Digital there are no winners in their divorce battle.
